Ohio Tandem Skydiving
A typical tandem skydiving trip involves a beginner, referred to as a student or passenger, who is harnessed to a advanced skydiving instructor or tandem skydiving master. The experienced skydiver will make sure everything is done properly. The instructor will time the exit, pilot the canopy, and control the landing.

For a beginner, the tandem form of skydiving is considered to be the most popular training method. First time jumpers can experience the thrill of skydiving without the responsability and expectations of a solo jump.

Tandem Skydiving Equipment
A larger main parachute is used for tandem skydives. In addition, a drogue parachute is typically deployed just after leaving the plane. The drogue parachute slows the freefall speed, allowing the tandem skydivers to enjoy the same speed as a solo skydiver. The drogue also allows for the deployment of the parachute at a safe speed, and allows a solo videographer to fall at the same speed should you decide to videotape the skydiving adventure.

Instructor certification
In order to qualify as an instructor for a tandem skydiving, the instructor must pass a course to become certified for the system that they are using. After they pass this certification, they can skydive with a student. Ohio law requires that the instructor must have in excess of 500 solo skydives as well as more than 3 years of skydiving. In addition, tandem skydiving system manufacturers typically require additional training.
